Pilates

Pilates is a whole body and mind concept developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. It has has since developed from its early conception to have both incredible fitness and clinical properties, which is why here at Waves we are so passionate about it as a mind-body health platform.

Are you new to Pilates or Waves? If you have no injuries then please choose a beginner class. If you have an injury or health condition, or not sure which level is best for you we advise an individual intake session (30, 60 or 90min) so that you begin your journey with us as efficiently, effectively and as safe as possible.

No matter your level we’ve got you covered. From our small group Essentials classes for those with special considerations through to Advanced equipment classes, you will find a class that is perfect for you at Waves.

We have three class types: Mat classes, Equipment classes (reformer, tower and chair) and Private classes.

Pricing

We have a range of pricing options, from monthly memberships for those coming multiple times per week through to individual class passes to give you a taste of what Pilates at Waves is about. Do you have a permanent disability (E-pathology) or a W.I.G.W. statue? Then please contact us directly for more specific information.

This is the class for you – an all body work out that focuses on movement quality, where we ease you into the wonderful world of Pilates. Intermediate Mat

For those of you who have no injuries or special considerations and have a good grasp of the Pilates basics, this is the class for you! Please check with our instructors if you are ready for this class as it is a faster moving class with more advanced repertoire. We have a ‘fire’ and ‘water’ approach to our intermediate classes; the energetic and sweaty & the focused and calm. Are you feeling fiery or watery? Let your instructor know on the day and experience the Waves difference.

Advanced Mat (the work)

This class is inspired by the original mat sequence created by Joseph Pilates and is a sweaty yet focused class challenging you to find deeper connection with your body through both the basic and advanced repertoire. You must be invited by an instructor to join this class and a regular Pilates practitioner. Please contact us for more information.

Essentials Mat

For those of you who have injuries or special considerations that take a little extra TLC, this is the class for you. Whether it is mentally or physically, we’ve got you covered in this class, and is a great stepping stone into our general mat classes outlined above. Please contact us for an individual 30min initial intake session to assess your medical and exercise history, and determine what options we have that are best for you. This class is delivered by a rehabilitation professional that has extensive training in exercise delivery (physiotherapist, exercise physiologist etc.).

Bones & Balance Mat

A fun, safe and active class for those at risk of, or have osteoporosis, that is routed in evidence-based practice. A great class for anyone who is at risk of low bone mineral density and falls prevention. Please contact us for an individual 30min initial intake session to assess your medical and exercise history, and determine what options we have that are best for you. This class is delivered by a rehabilitation professional that has been trained in exercise delivery for bone health and falls prevention (physiotherapist, exercise physiologist etc.)

Lets just BE.

Our mindful mat class is a combination of movement with the focus on calming and energising the mind and body. This class is suitable for all levels (including pre-natal clients).

Pre-natal Mat

Exercise is internationally safe and recommended (World Health Organisation) for mums-to-be for both physical and mental well-being. Furthermore, not only will you benefit, but also your little one! Our pregnancy classes will help you stay active and strong during this special time, in a safe and effective way. We also bring focus on exercises and movement to preapre you for delivery and the recovery period afterwards. All classes are delivered by professionals who are trained to guide and support through the prenatal period and we have access to multiple support systems in Leuven to refer you to if this required.

Mums & Mini’s (Wrigglers)

This class is appropriate from when your gynaecologist gives you the ok to exercise (usually 6 weeks post-partum) and is taylored for those early post-partum months (usually 6 months). It is a super fun class for both mums and babies to enjoy (partners are also welcome) where we focus on mums recovery in a supportive environment, and provide ways to play and interact with your little bundle in an active yet safe way. It is not just exercise for mum, but important exercises for baby too! Whether you have done Pilates before or not, all are welcome. All classes are delivered by instructors who are trained in post-natal and pediatric exercise prescription.

Mums & Mini’s (Crawlers)

This class is appropriate from when your little one can sit upright alone (usually from 6 months) and is working towards supporting on hands and knees. It is a super fun class for both mums and babies to enjoy (partners are also welcome) where we focus on mums exercise goals in a supportive environment, and provide ways to play and interact with your little bundle in an active way. Whether you have done Pilates before or not, all are welcome. All classes are given by instructors who are trained in post-natal and pediatric exercise prescription.

Pilates for Teens

Join our fun class focused on teens. The perfect compliment to school and getting the body moving, but also for those dancing or playing sport and would like to supplement their practice. Suitable for all levels and uses the kids pass price.

Family Class

A fun class for the whole family (from 4+years) that is organised at various times in the year (usually monthly). This classes has a family pass (1 adults x 1 child), child pass or adult pass.

This is an energetic yet focused class providing an introduction to using the reformer, tower or chair. Appropriate for beginner level clients without injuries or health conditions, or experienced clients who would like to have some more focus on the basics. This class is not suitable for pre-/post-natal clients and those with injuries.

This is a highly focused, detailed and intense class for instructors, soon to be instructored and highly experienced clients practicing at least 2x per week. We will use all equipment – reformer, tower, chairs, barrel and spine correctors. If you would like to join these classes please chat to your instructor to see if you are read.

Would you like some extra support to supplement your group sessions, or you would like regular individual programming to really target your specific goals. Then our private sessions are for you. At Waves we pride ourselves on our client-centred focus.

In your 55min private session you will have a taylored programme that will target your goals and specifications.

Whether you are looking for some more focus attention to injuries, or you would like to work on the more advanced repertoirre, our 1-on-1 consultations are perfect for all. Ideally these are to supplement your group Pilates or other exercise sessions.
