Pilates is a whole body and mind concept developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. It has has since developed from its early conception to have both incredible fitness and clinical properties, which is why here at Waves we are so passionate about it as a mind-body health platform. We offer group-, private- and semi-private sessions.

Intake session
Are you new to Pilates or Waves? If you have no injuries then please feel free to book any beginner class. If you have an injury or health condition, or not sure which level is best for you we advise an individual intake session (30, 60 or 90min) so that you begin your journey with us as efficiently, effectively and as safe as possible. No matter your level we’ve got you covered. From our small group Essentials classes for those with special considerations through to Advanced equipment classes, you will find a class that is perfect for you at Waves.

We have two main class types: Mat classes and Equipment classes (reformer, tower, chair).

Pricing

We have a range of pricing options, from monthly memberships for those coming multiple times per week through to individual class passes to give you a taste of what Pilates at Waves is about. Do you have a permanent disability (E-pathology) or a Social statute with your mutuality? Then please contact us directly for more specific information as Waves gives discounts for this target population to make the sessions more accessible.

Whether it is mentally or physically, we’ve got you covered in this class, and is a great stepping stone into our general mat classes outlined above. Please contact us for an individual 30min initial intake session to assess your medical and exercise history, and determine what options we have that are best for you. This class is delivered by a rehabilitation professional that has extensive training in exercise delivery (physiotherapist, exercise physiologist etc.).

A fun, safe and active class that is routed in evidence-based practice for those at risk of, or have osteoporosis. A great class for anyone who is at risk of low bone mineral density and falls prevention. Please contact us for an individual 30min initial intake session to assess your medical and exercise history, and determine what options we have that are best for you. This class is delivered by a rehabilitation professional that has been trained in exercise delivery for bone health and falls prevention (physiotherapist, exercise physiologist etc.)

Meditation Mondays

Monday – Biweekly

In our Meditation Monday classes we practice group meditation, mindfulness and relaxation. We take time to get out of the rush of daily life and be consciously present in the here and now. Want to pause for a moment and make space for peace in body and mind? Then these classes are for you!

In need for more individualised support? Make sure to contact our relaxation therapists Bavo and Edith for 1-on-1 guidance.

These classes are always taught in Dutch.

Pre-natal Mat

Mon & Sat

Exercise is safe and internationally recommended (World Health Organization) for mums-to-be for both physical and mental well-being. Furthermore, not only will you benefit, but also your little one! Our pregnancy classes will help you stay active and strong during this special time, in a safe and effective way. We also bring focus on exercises and movement to prepare you for delivery and the recovery period afterwards. All classes are delivered by professionals who are trained to guide and support through the prenatal period. They have access to multiple support systems in Leuven to refer you to if this required.

Mums & Minis (Wrigglers)

This class is appropriate from when your gynaecologist gives you the ok to exercise (usually 6 weeks post-partum) and is taylored for those early post-partum months (usually 6 months). It is a super fun class for both mums and babies to enjoy (partners are also welcome) where we focus on mums’ recovery in a supportive environment, and provide ways to play and interact with their little bundle in an active yet safe way. It is not just exercise for mum, but important exercises for baby too! Whether you have done Pilates before or not, all are welcome. All classes are delivered by instructors who are trained in post-natal and pediatric exercise prescription.

Pilates for Teens

Join our fun class focused on teens. The perfect compliment to school and getting the body moving, but also for those dancing or playing sport and would like to supplement their practice. A fun class for the whole family (from 4+years) that is organised at various times in the year (usually monthly). These classes have a family pass (1 adults x 1 child), child pass or adult pass.

This class is appropriate from when your little one can sit upright alone (usually from 6 months) and is working towards supporting on hands and knees. It is a super fun class for both mums and babies to enjoy (partners are also welcome) where we focus on mums exercise goals in a supportive environment, and provide ways to play and interact with your little bundle in an active way. Whether you have done Pilates before or not, all are welcome. All classes are given by instructors who are trained in post-natal and pediatric exercise prescription.

02. Private sessions

Would you like some extra support to supplement your group sessions, or you would like regular individual programming to really target your specific medical goals. Then our private sessions are for you. At Waves we pride ourselves on our client-centered focus.

In your 55min private session you will have a tailored programme that will target your goals and specifications.

These medical intake & sessions under Pilates are limited at the moment, due to a limited capacity of our instructors. Please get in contact with us to discuss your needs and desires.

As our physiotherapists are frequently fully booked, we are limiting the amount of medical privates that we are taking on at the moment. To start your Pilates privates journey, please use the link below to fill out the request form.

Our team of experienced instructors is here to cater to your individual preferences and provide answers to any questions you may have. The cost of private sessions varies based on the instructor’s experience and expertise, and the rates are as follows:

Private Sessions (1:1)

Whether you are looking for some more focus attention to injuries, or you would like to work on the more advanced repertoirre, our 1-on-1 consultations are perfect for all. Ideally these are to supplement your group Pilates or other exercise sessions.

Duo Sessions (2:1)

Our duo sessions are for those who would like some more personalised attention with a friend or family member. These sessions are also ideally combined with group Pilates or other exercise sessions.

03. Semi-Privates

Empowerment is important to us at Waves and a big step in this is enhancing your independence and awareness of your body, your mind and its integration with movement. This is why we offer Semi-privates sessions in which we have groups of a max. of 3 people with each their own individual programme and goals. The perfect stepping stone between individual and group sessions. This limited group size allows the instructor to focus more intensely on the individual needs and goals of each participant.

Accessible to both beginners and advanced practitioners, the semi-privates provide a structured environment in which each participant can benefit from customised instruction while at the same time can enjoy the social dynamics of the group.

The advantage of semi-privates lies in the ability to learn to practice more independently than in your individual session. As a result, you develop a better understanding of the exercises and develop more accurate and natural sense your body. You become more aware of the nuances while performing the exercises, and then translate this into real life – the world outside.
