Our Sustainability Practices
At Waves, we are committed to enhancing the quality of life and well-being for all by providing an empowering and inclusive environment.
Our holistic approach to health and wellbeing extends to our interior design choices, where we prioritise sustainable elements. Wherever possible, we choose to work with local and sustainable brands to support our community, reduce our environmental impact and provide a healthy space for everyone.
One of our core values is innovation and for us, true innovation means thinking sustainably, finding creative ways to reimagine and reuse what’s already there. ‘Reduce, reuse, recycle’ isn’t just a catchphrase, it really is at the heart of everything we do.
As we built Waves over the years, wherever possible we chose for the more sustainable option. Did you know that:
- Our sinks are made out of natural river stone
- We made the lights in our new toilets with reused wooden planks
- The flooring of our Gym is from recycled rubber
- In our office, we repurposed fruit crates from Limburg farmers as lockers
- The pallets on the ceiling of our Pilates studio are all recycled from transport boxes carrying our gym and Pilates equipment
- The wooden skeleton between our Gym and Pilates areas is entirely recycled from wooden structures left behind by the previous shop in our building
- Our front desk was crafted by Invictus, a local Leuven carpenter, using reclaimed wood from old bars in the French Alps to create the vertical slats on the front of the counter
- The mirror in the Pilates space is second hand
- And did you know that the wooden couch in our waiting room was originally a box that held our Australian Pilates equipment which Bavo transformed into a couch?
We love being creative and we really do love how we have built our space over the years. It took a bit longer to finalise everything seeing we wanted to build as sustainably as possible, but it’s all been so worthwhile and we couldn’t be happier with the results.
