Aishwarya Shinde

BACKGROUND

Born and raised in Pune, India, Aish began her professional journey as a physiotherapist in sports, working for two years before making the big move to Leuven in 2019 to pursue a Master’s in Sports Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy at KUL. After graduating, she spent 1.5 years working in Belgium, seeking out a dynamic environment that encouraged growth and aligned with her values in the profession.

She came across Waves as casually as strolling through the neighbourhood one day, and something just clicked—she knew this was it. Her passion for Pilates, combined with her background as a certified yoga instructor and her deep appreciation for all forms of movement that enhance the mind-body connection, initially drew her to Waves.

But what truly surprised her was the timing. At the same moment, she was exploring a growing interest in hand rehabilitation and was actively looking for experienced hand therapists to learn from. That’s when she met Carlotta. It didn’t take long before she realised that the complexity of hand rehabilitation fascinated her, which led her to pursue an advanced course—De Hand Binnenstebuiten | Meerdaagse Navorming Handtherapie—at the University of Ghent.

Since then, she has been working with patients facing a range of hand and wrist conditions such as acute and chronic wrist pain, wrist instability, CRPS, hand surgeries, and post-operative scar management. She’s also a member of Belgian Hand Therapists and looks forward to diving even deeper into the world of hand rehab in the years to come.

At the same time, she’s reconnecting with her passion for movement and guiding others in theirs. In September 2024, she began the Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training with Polestar and is thrilled to bring her knowledge into clinical application. What continues to inspire her is the transformation she sees—the way people walk out of a guided movement session standing tall, confident, and feather-light.

WHY SHE DOES WHAT SHE DOES

Through her own share of injuries, Aish witnessed firsthand how the right kind of movement support can truly transform a person’s life—helping them cope with pain, regain mobility, and move with confidence again. She firmly believes that making sense of pain is a crucial step in the recovery process. That belief fuels her commitment to education and empowerment, supporting people to take charge of their own healing journey.

Fun Facts About Aishwarya

Aish spent a good chunk of her youth just studying—considering her Bachelor’s in India took 4.5 years and her Master’s as an international student in Belgium added another 2.5 years! Somehow that still feels amusing to her, but here we are. 😆

Beyond the books and clinics, she’s all about exploring—whether that means travelling to new places, connecting with people from different cultures, or diving into new experiences. When she’s not working, you’ll likely find her in India enjoying quality time with family and friends, hopping around at music concerts, dancing Bachata, or simply soaking up the sun on a beach somewhere.

She’s a true foodie at heart—trying out new recipes and indulging in good food always brings her joy. She thrives on meaningful connections, a touch of spontaneity, and just the right dose of adventure. Her life motto? Be kind, stay present, and find joy in the little things.
