Hoewel ons lichaam consistenter aanvoelt dan tijdens onze tienerjaren, is onze hersenontwikkeling nog volop bezig tot in onze vroege twintiger jaren. Tegelijk komen er ook heel wat levensveranderingen op ons pad, zowel professioneel als persoonlijk. Daarbovenop bestaan er verschillende gezondheidsproblemen die enkel bij vrouwen voorkomen \u2014 problemen die tot voor kort amper aandacht kregen in onderzoek [1].<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"737\" data-end=\"1024\">Met deze blog willen we twee veelvoorkomende aandoeningen onder de aandacht brengen die vooral jonge vrouwen treffen: (1) endometriose en (2) polycysteus-ovariumsyndroom (PCOS). We gaan ook dieper in op de rol die beweging kan spelen in het omgaan met deze aandoeningen en hun symptomen.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_col-sm-4 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_large\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"g-cols wpb_row us_custom_ab613840 via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-7 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h3 data-start=\"155\" data-end=\"171\">Endometriose<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"173\" data-end=\"570\">Eenvoudig gezegd is endometriose een chronische gynaecologische aandoening waarbij cellen die lijken op het baarmoederslijmvlies ook buiten de baarmoeder terug te vinden zijn. Dit treft niet enkel de bekkenregio, maar heeft ook een impact op het zenuwstelsel, wat kan leiden tot centrale sensitisatie van pijn [2]. Met andere woorden: het brein en ruggenmerg reageren overgevoelig op pijnprikkels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"572\" data-end=\"1072\">Endometriose treft wereldwijd ongeveer 5 tot 10% van de vrouwen in de vruchtbare leeftijd (ongeveer 176 miljoen vrouwen). De klinische symptomen vari\u00ebren en kunnen bestaan uit bekkenpijn (50\u201380%), vruchtbaarheidsproblemen (50%), menstruatiepijn en mentale klachten zoals angst of depressie (tot wel 87%) [3]. Gelukkig is er de laatste jaren steeds meer aandacht en onderzoek naar endometriose. Hierdoor groeit onze kennis over deze aandoening en vooral over hoe we ze kunnen behandelen en begeleiden.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1074\" data-end=\"1570\">Onderzoek toont aan dat beweging een waardevol hulpmiddel kan zijn in het verlichten van symptomen bij endometriose, met name op vlak van levenskwaliteit en pijnverlichting [4]. Het is echter belangrijk dat dit op een afgestemde manier gebeurt. Een te intensief bewegingsprogramma (zoals zware krachttraining of sprinten) kan een overgevoelig zenuwstelsel verder overprikkelen. Sommige studies rapporteren zelfs negatieve effecten van zulke trainingsvormen op vrouwen met endometriose [5].<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1572\" data-end=\"1815\">Daarom is het belangrijk om samen te werken met een professional die gespecialiseerd is in oefentherapie bij endometriose. Zo kan er gezocht worden naar een vorm van beweging die aansluit bij jouw lichaam, jouw doelen en jouw dagelijkse leven.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1817\" data-end=\"2232\">Dit verklaart ook waarom bewegingsvormen zoals Pilates, met een sterke focus op bewust bewegen en het verbinden van lichaam en geest, vaak zulke positieve effecten hebben bij vrouwen met endometriose. Symptomen kunnen sterk vari\u00ebren en omvatten onder andere schommelingen in de menstruatiecyclus, vruchtbaarheidsproblemen, acne, overmatige haargroei op gezicht en lichaam, haaruitval, en gewichtstoename (vooral rond de buikstreek). Vrouwen met PCOS hebben bovendien een verhoogde kans op het ontwikkelen van type 2 diabetes, hoge bloeddruk, verhoogd cholesterol, hart- en vaatziekten en bepaalde vormen van kanker [7]. Ook op mentaal vlak kan PCOS een grote impact hebben, met verhoogd risico op depressie en angstklachten [8].<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"786\" data-end=\"942\">Kortom, PCOS is een complexe en chronische aandoening die meerdere systemen in het lichaam be\u00efnvloedt en een grote invloed kan hebben op je levenskwaliteit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"944\" data-end=\"1463\">Beweging blijkt een krachtig hulpmiddel te zijn in het aanpakken van verschillende symptomen \u00e9n ook risicofactoren die gepaard gaan met PCOS. Positieve effecten zijn aangetoond op vlak van gewichtsbeheer, insulinegevoeligheid, vetprofiel in het bloed, bloeddrukregulatie, mentale gezondheid en algemene fitheid [9]. Meer en meer onderzoek toont aan dat krachttraining met een matige tot hoge intensiteit effectiever is dan louter aerobe training (zoals lopen of fietsen) in het beheersen van PCOS-gerelateerde klachten [9].<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"w-separator size_large\"><\/div><div class=\"g-cols wpb_row us_custom_ab613840 via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h3 data-start=\"170\" data-end=\"201\"><strong data-start=\"170\" data-end=\"201\">En nu? Waar kan je terecht?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"203\" data-end=\"639\">Samengevat weten we dat beweging belangrijk is voor alle vrouwen. Maar steeds vaker tonen onderzoeken aan dat gezonde bewegingsgewoontes ook een grote meerwaarde kunnen betekenen voor vrouwen met specifieke gezondheidsproblemen. In deze blog gaven we een korte introductie over twee vaak voorkomende aandoeningen bij jonge vrouwen: endometriose en PCOS, en hoe beweging een waardevolle rol kan spelen in het beheersen van de symptomen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"641\" data-end=\"985\">We benadrukten ook hoe belangrijk het is om samen te werken met een expert in oefentherapie die vertrouwd is met deze aandoeningen en vertrekt vanuit een biopsychosociaal perspectief. Een aanpak dus die niet alleen kijkt naar je medische klachten, maar ook rekening houdt met jouw persoonlijke doelen, je lichaam, je levensstijl en je omgeving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"987\" data-end=\"1419\">* Het endocriene systeem is een boodschappennetwerk in ons lichaam, waarbij verschillende klieren samenwerken om hormonen vrij te maken die allerlei lichaamsfuncties reguleren.
