Osteoporose wordt gekenmerkt door een vermindering van de botkwaliteit en een verhoogd risico op fracturen [1]. Hoewel deze gezondheidstoestand gewoonlijk in verband wordt gebracht met het ouder worden en de menopauze, wordt aangenomen dat de onderliggende variabelen worden ontwikkeld tijdens de kindertijd en de adolescentie. Dit onderstreept de noodzaak van een gezond en actief leven van gedurende onze hele levensloop. Daarenboven is osteoporose een gezondheidstoestand die vrouwen na de menopauze vaker treft en zich kenmerkt door een vermindering van botkwaliteit en een grotere kwetsbaarheid voor fracturen [3].<\/p>\n<p>Lichaamsbeweging is een van de belangrijkste componenten die een positieve invloed heeft op de gezondheid van de botten, waaronder een hogere botmineraaldichtheid en kracht [4].<\/p>\n<p>Mensen die regelmatig sporten hebben een grotere kans om leeftijdsgebonden botverlies tegen te gaan. Ze melden tevens minder valpartijen en fracturen door de ontwikkeling van sterkere spieren en botten, die het evenwicht verbeteren [5]. Pilates is een vorm van lichaamsbeweging die de posturale stabiliteit kan verbeteren, de spierkracht kan vergroten en het lichaamsbewustzijn kan verbeteren, dat in verband kan worden gebracht met een toename van evenwicht, houdingscontrole en blessurepreventie [7]. Bovendien blijkt uit onderzoek dat vrouwen met postmenopauzale osteoporose baat zouden kunnen hebben bij Pilates in termen van toegenomen functionele mogelijkheden, pijnbeheersing en verbetering van de levenskwaliteit [8].<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"w-separator size_small\"><\/div><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><blockquote>\n<p>A man is as young as his spinal column.&#8221;<\/p>\n<footer>&#8211; Joseph Pilates<\/footer>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"w-separator size_large\"><\/div><div class=\"g-cols wpb_row us_custom_ab613840 via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h3>Hoe zit het met training in de fitness?<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p>Naast Pilates kan echter ook weerstandstraining een gunstige vorm van lichaamsbeweging zijn die helpt de gezondheid van de botten te behouden en zelfs te verbeteren. Lichaamsbeweging in de vorm van weerstandstraining wordt voor iedereen aanbevolen, ook voor ouderen, volwassenen, tieners en kinderen. Onderzoek stelt dat volwassenen die niet aan weerstandstraining doen, hun botmineraaldensiteit jaarlijks met 1% tot 3% kunnen zien afnemen. Daarom zou een oefenprogramma met weerstandstraining en de bijhorende spiertoename ook de botmineraaldichtheid kunnen verbeteren [9]. Bovendien blijkt uit onderzoek dat de toename van de botdensiteit die tijdens de kinderjaren door lichaamsbeweging wordt bereikt, wordt voortgezet op volwassen leeftijd. Bij volwassenen is het doel voornamelijk de botmineraaldichtheid te behouden om bepaalde gevolgen van het ouder worden te voorkomen [10].<\/p>\n<p>Hier bij Waves bieden we specifieke Gym en Pilates \u2018Bone &amp; Balance\u2019 lessen aan voor mensen die risico lopen op een lage botmineraaldensiteit of die nood hebben aan valpreventie-training.
